299 Durham Street
Designed by Christchurch architects Sheppard and Rout, these upscale commercial offices in Christchurch’s CBD called for extensive marble and granite finishes, and cladding to be done in aluminium composite panel. As such the building exhibits a unique patina and has a noteworthy architectural character.
The project itself incorporates 24-metre deep screw piles and implements new technology - Precast Seismic Structural System (PRESSS) - that meets Importance Level 3 (IL3) building requirements.
During the build, traffic management presented unique challenges, since the small footprint construction site sat adjacent to both a high-traffic footpath area and a parallel tram route.
