100 Moorhouse Ave
Developer Paul Kelly of Christchurch was seeking to build another mixed-use commercial retail office complex on the strip of land he owns fronting Moorhouse Ave. After securing architects Sheppard & Rout, he chose to partner with us as a reliable builder able to complete the project, which was designed to a high architectural standard, having done so several times in the recent past.
The project’s specification included the use of a horizontal louvre canopy running the entire length of the complex, which was integrated with a recessed area open to the exterior. The rear of the building, which faces a predominantly industrial area, was detailed using Corten steel.
One of the key challenges was meeting new post-quake engineering, structural and fire requirements which were subject to impromptu inspections. This required high standards to be maintained throughout the entire duration of the building process.
