NZ Dairy Co Canning Facility

This is a complete design and build project constructing a milk powder canning facility at NZ Dairy Co’s existing facility in Mangere.

Design included the consideration of structure, ventilation, and temperature control. The design and finished building also meets the rigorous requirements of the Ministry of Primary Industries with inspections carried out by MPI during and after completion of construction.

This project presented a number of technical challenges, including:

  • Adapting the new structure design to the existing building requirements of temperature control and humidity
  • MPI requirements in terms of specific design solutions and requirements around building material to be used
  • Liaising with canning equipment suppliers at the design stage in order to ensure all aspects of the design met their requirements and, during construction, ensuring a smooth handover of areas of the project to them to start installation of equipment, testing and commissioning.
