The Dunedin City Council, on behalf of designated tenant Oakleys Plumbing, was seeking to erect a built-to-purpose facility on a site requiring extensive remediation, including the demolition of existing outdated structures. As such, they were looking for a builder that could provide a turnkey solution.
We put forward design and build solution that met the two objectives of the future tenant – a facility with a warehouse section to house its servicing and parts inventory operations and public office and retail section to showcase its line of products to the public.
Despite its practicality and budgetary restrictions, we leveraged our design acumen, particularly in precast panel construction, to deliver a distinctive outcome. Winner of the Registered Master Builders Silver Award in the Commercial Project category, the building features an oversized doorway, iconic branding and exhibits a simple yet notable architectural sophistication.
A flexible construction management approach was maintained to allow the tenant to occupy the warehouse section of the building whilst the retail office area was still being completed.
