Tyremax New Zealand Ltd, a nationally recognised tyre wholesaler, was planning to open an outlet in the Invercargill area to service the Southland market. Once plans were standardised and finalised, we went into discussions with the client regarding terms and conditions of a design and build structured lease package.
Once a package was agreed upon, we began construction work on the 3150m2 facility, which included 2,000m2 devoted to the warehousing of Tyremax’s extensive tyre stock, along with 800m2 of canopied space to support protected pickups and deliveries. An additional 350m2 office area was built at the front of the facility, devoted to accommodating administrative operations.
This project encountered constant winds and rain throughout its construction phase, which presented real scheduling challenges. As such the roof took a total of six long weeks to install. However, overall schedules were met in compliance to the client’s overall targets for occupancy by doubling up man-hours during more favourable weather conditions.
