Internationally recognised Vavasour Wines, located in the Marlborough district, was aiming to expand their wine producing capabilities and looking to build another winery on the premises. Our design and build proposal met the criteria.
Since the project relied heavily on specialty plant and designated subcontractors to oversee the installation of specialty equipment (eg. high volume vats and other mission-critical environmental controls) we assumed a role as team player within the project. All scheduling relied on common agreements between ourselves, key specialty subcontractors and Vavasour themselves.
Critical to the project’s success was the requirement that construction would be non-obtrusive and not interfere with the ongoing wine producing operations. To this end, strong communication channels were opened between a rotating construction team and Vavasour management.
Concrete tilt panel construction utilising clearspan structural steel portal frames, DHS purlins and insulated roof and wall panels, allowed for maximum flexibility in the location and environmental control of plant, tanks and the running of overall operations.
