Calder Stewart Assists Fiji Rebuild

Posted 16 May 2016

Calder Stewart Roofing was approached by the The Rotary Club of Mosgiel among other corrugated steel roofing producers to donate to the Fiji rebuild appeal. In February 2016 the Fijian Islands were devastated by Cyclone Winston a category 5 tropical cyclone with winds of up to 230km/hr killing 44 people.

Approximately 120,000 people were left homeless by cyclone Winston with most houses loosing roofs if not being totally destroyed. Calder Stewart Roofing along with Pacific Coil Coaters and Fulton Hogan have donated a combined weight of over 40 tonnes  or 30KM's (in length) of corrugated Iron.

It is hoped that with new high quality Iron and roofing screws, these rebuilt homes should withstand the next tropical cyclone.”
