New Premises for National Homebuilder

Christchurch - This new head office for national home builder Stonewood Homes underscores Calder Stewart’s ability to tailor a Design and Build package to suit. In this case, the architectural firm of Mason & Wales was brought to the table with the express purpose of designing a project that would set a leading architectural example for the award winning company.

Central to the project’s construction was its earthquake resilient design, utilising buckle resistant bracing (BRB) technology. This signature engineering approach has been used in a number of other recent Calder Stewart projects in the Christchurch rebuild initiatives. And to bolster the building’s future proof status, Calder Stewart Roofing’s Solar-Rib® was specified for the roof, providing Stonewood Homes the option to generate electrical power in the future.

As Site Manager DAN ATKINSON explains of the 2000m2 two storey structure, “Attention to quality detailing explains the building’s overall appeal. Its uncommon use of structural steel, choice timber and refined use of stone makes it more than a standard office build - it looks pretty special now that it’s finished”.

And to be sure - Stonewood Homes agrees, having ‘a high end home’ that reflects its position as a distinctive home builder of choice, confident in its ability to stand out and offer a point of difference.
